Models drift: how to write an SLA for AI services
Model upgrades or drift can quietly change outputs; a service-level agreement needs to cover that change.
AI services differ from traditional software: a vendor upgrading a model, or drift over time, can change output quality and behavior without your knowledge.
Standard SLAs often do not cover such 'behavioral change', leaving no contractual basis when it hits your business.
Contract for notice duties on model changes, performance baselines, and rollback, and keep your own evaluation for critical use cases.
