Shipping content labeling: building the requirement into product interaction
Several jurisdictions require labeling AI-generated content; the hard part isn't whether to label but doing it across modalities and tamper-resistantly.
For generative products, content labeling is shifting from optional to compliance infrastructure. The question isn't whether to label but how — meeting explicit and implicit requirements without breaking the experience, and staying traceable after sharing, download, and re-editing.
Text, image, audio, and video are labeled differently, and cross-modal consistency and tamper resistance decide whether it truly satisfies regulators. A line of fine print in the UI is often not enough.
The pragmatic approach is to make labeling a default of the generation pipeline, adopt a mature content-credentials scheme, and keep generation and labeling logs for inquiries.
